This panel is part of the Settings Dialogue. It allows you to control validation of machine readable data.
SSC can verify machine readable data specified using a number of standard ontologies, such as schema.org. An ontology defines how to provide machine readable information online, so that software such as search engines can comprehend the data presented on the website.
If you wish SSC to verify ontological data on a website, select verify known ontologies. SSC can pick this information up using the Living Standard’s <ITEMTYPE> and related elements, or in RDFa files.
Below the checkbox is a list of ontologies can SSC can process. Many of these ontologies have a variety of versions. By default, SSC will checked ontological data against the most recent version of the ontologies that SSC can process, but you can select other versions here if you so wish.
If you ask SSC to verify ontologies, you can also request that it exports the machine readable data it finds when it processes the site. This exports files in JSON format, which can be made a little less ugly for easier reading by a person.
You must select a directory where the exports will be written. SSC will write files corresponding to the files it reads, reflecting the directory structure of the original site.
SSC can also verify microformats (see microformats.org for gen). You can specify which version of microformats SSC should verify.
If you specify a microformat export directory, SSC will export any microformat content it finds into JSON files, optionally prettified to make browsing easier.
